I almost can’t believe I’m saying this, but you’re holding in your hands the 90th issue of An Essex Wedding! The first title in the County Wedding Magazines portfolio, we’ve gone from strength to strength over the years and we’re still passionate (ahem, obsessed) about the wedding industry in this beautiful county of ours. I love the diversity our region offers from glamorous to rustic and contemporary to historic; we’ve seen every type of big day grace these pages over the last 15 years.
We’ve got such a treat for you this issue. Our incredible real weddings (starting on page 40) will be a brilliant source of inspiration for those of you who have a shiny new rock on your finger after Christmas Day! And don’t forget to check out our styled shoots (pages 63 and 95) when sourcing supertalented suppliers for your big day. Just to pre-warn you, our photography feature (page 67) is showcasing all the emotions of weddings – so get the tissues ready!
I’ll just take this opportunity to thank all the incredible couples and suppliers who we’ve worked with over the last decade and a half – here’s to the next 15 years of An Essex Wedding!

Cressing Temple Barns
What can you expect?
Nestled between Braintree and Witham are the beautiful Grade I listed Cressing Temple Barns. Complementing the Templar-built barn is an idyllic and peaceful Tudor walled garden, which provides a perfect backdrop for photographs with its arbour, viewing platform and trickling water feature. The 13th-century barns, which were built in the Templar Knight period, are steeped in history with ancient timbers and brickwork providing a wowfactor backdrop to celebrations.
Let’s celebrate!
Ceremonies can be held in two of the barns for up to 200 guests. The Wheat Barn has a viewing platform for amazing aerial photos, while the Barley Barn provides a blank-canvas space with its hard floor, wooden timbers and brickwork giving a rustic vibe. Outdoor weddings (100 guests) are hosted in the Gardener’s Shelter and adjoining orchard from April to mid-July.
In the evening, parties move to the Evening Barn and courtyard – a great party spot for a DJ or live entertainment.

Couples who marry here are offered a complimentary date night at one of the venue’s outdoor film screenings for their first anniversary.
