January/February 2021

Well, 2020 was a year we won’t forget in a hurry! I know we’re not out of the woods, but I feel like as we wake up to a new year, blinking into the January light, there’s renewed hope and excitement for the future. I bought myself two new outfits for weddings I had in the diary last year, which have been left hanging in the wardrobe, and I’m quietly confident I’ll get to pull them out in 2021!

So how are you finding wedding planning during a pandemic? I know it’s been a tough ride, but I hope the fact that An Essex Wedding has been here, celebrating the best of the county’s wedding industry, has helped. We will always bang the drum for local indie businesses, they’ve weathered the storm and supported their couples throughout, now’s the time to support them in return.

For those of you who are newly engaged over the festive period and Valentine’s Day – congratulations and welcome! We’ve got an epic issue for you, including venue styling tips for those whose plans have changed dramatically (page 61), a round-up of beautiful venues in and around my hometown of Braintree (page 19), and a celebration of photography that captures the essence of what we love about big days (page 55). We love to showcase reader weddings (from page 34), so get in touch if you’d like to see yours featured!
