Well, 2020 was a year we won’t forget in a hurry! I know we’re not out of the woods, but I feel like as we wake up to a new year, blinking into the January light, there’s renewed hope and excitement for the future. I bought myself two new outfits for weddings I had in the diary last year, which have been left hanging in the wardrobe, and I’m quietly confident I’ll get to pull them out in 2021!
So how are you finding wedding planning during a pandemic? I know it’s been a tough ride, but I hope the fact that An Essex Wedding has been here, celebrating the best of the county’s wedding industry, has helped. We will always bang the drum for local indie businesses, they’ve weathered the storm and supported their couples throughout, now’s the time to support them in return.
For those of you who are newly engaged over the festive period and Valentine’s Day – congratulations and welcome! We’ve got an epic issue for you, including venue styling tips for those whose plans have changed dramatically (page 61), a round-up of beautiful venues in and around my hometown of Braintree (page 19), and a celebration of photography that captures the essence of what we love about big days (page 55). Crondon Park Wedding Venue
Winner of Best Countryside Wedding Venue at the British Wedding Awards, this established venue in the valley of Crondon boasts stunning views across the Essex countryside. The Baronial Hall is one of the finest examples of a Tudor light-oak beamed barn. With its rustic charm and pretty water feature in the Baronial Gardens, it’s a wonderful backdrop for wedding photographs.
The “I dos” take place in the Ryder Room (100 guests), which looks amazing adorned with twinkling fairylights. There’s also the option to hold the ceremony al fresco, overlooked by picturesque tiered seating. Wedding breakfasts take place in the Baronial Hall where couples can enjoy their meal with up to 148 loved ones, followed by an evening reception for up to 220. Fully air-conditioned, it boasts bay trees, fairylights and bespoke uplighting.
