Maxine and Lewis first met eight years ago when she joined a local volleyball team. Who knew the smiling face that greeted me would be the person I'd spend the rest of my life with? Maxine says. The pair were close mates for five years before becoming official. Their friendship was clearly a great basis for their relationship as it wasn't long before Lewis was thinking about popping the question. He decided to get down on one knee in front of all their friends at a volleyball tournament. He even had it secretly filmed by drone! It was a total surprise, Maxine tells us. Especially as it was in the middle of a game! The pair got cracking with planning their dream day for 10th May, 2019, at Hedingham Castle. Maxine lets us in on all the details.
Hedingham Castle is the most beautiful venue. Every area has its own wowmoment to take in, from the romantic castle and Georgian house to the beautiful gardens and marquee.
Our cake was created by a family friend and featured four delicious tiers withhandmade flowers, confetti and pearls.
The heartfelt speeches from my maid-of-honour and the best man were so emotional; there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
The place settings worked beautifully a crisp white name card dressed with a eucalyptus leaf. We asked our loved ones to add their fingerprint to our guest book as a memento.
We dined on a traditional afternoon tea followed by a relaxed hog roast in the evening.Castle
The owls and falcons were a real highlight. They flew the rings in for the ceremony and our guests enjoyed an interactive flying display.
Lewis arrived in style in a fabulous Jaguar E Type.
We wanted a traditional and romantic feel to the day. Our flowers were a classic mix of white hydrangeas, peonies and roses.
The men rocked silver suits. Lewis wore silver accessories while the groomsmen donned pink to coordinate with my maid-of-honour. She looked beautiful in a satin number.
We had a pass-the-parcel game to get all our friends and family mingling before getting the party started with a brilliant live band called The Flashbacks.
Chris Woodman, our photographer, helped make the day. His enthusiasm, creativity and interaction with our guests was beyond first class..
