Every little thing she does is magic

A mix of pastel colours and a Harry Potter theme created a relaxed atmosphere for Kay and Richard's nuptials.

Kay Goody married Richard Mays, both 27, at Crabbs Barn, Kelvedon on 12th August, 2016.

Richard opted for a brown three-piece woollen suit and the best men wore the same jacket and trousers as the groom, opting for a blue waistcoat instead. The males in the bridal party also donned maroon bow ties made by my mum.

Every little thing she does is magic: Image 2aI wore Essense of Australia in style D1919. I've never been a good shopper, but I saw this dress in a magazine and when I tried it on I knew it was my dress. I loved the sweethear t neckline, the sleeves and the lace up back.

We were very lucky to have such laid-back bridesmaids, so picking a dress wasn't too hard. They all wore the same gown in a different pastel hue to match the theme, and had their own bouquet to match the shade of their dress.

Every little thing she does is magic: Image 4aOur colour scheme was detailed, comprising of sea blue, baby pink, lilac and lemon, so we had to make sure the flowers matched perfectly. We drew inspiration from wild blooms so we only had flowers you could find in a field, including daisies and gypsophila.

Every little thing she does is magic: Image 4 We loved the rustic nature of Crabbs Barn, and the fact that it was a small intimate venue meant that everyone would be close to one another throughout the day.

Being a graphic designer, I created our own version of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, which had our faces on and a personal note to the guests on the back. Inside was a Ferrero Rocher disguised as the Golden Snitch, sitting on a bed of jellybeans.

Every little thing she does is magic: Image 6aOur good friend Rachel Day created our beautiful naked cake, and worked with our florist to decorate it with flowers and local, freshly picked fruit. I illustrated us both and had it printed onto acrylic, which became our cake topper.

Every little thing she does is magic: Image 6 The DJ seemed to know the sort of music that ever yone wanted to hear, some people didn't even leave the dancefloor. Our first dance was a cover of Every Little Thing She Does is Magic by Sleeping At Last.

Richard was so ner vous about his speech, I never doubted him but when he got up he totally smashed it. We were lucky to have two hilar ious best men who brought the house down, and my maid-of-honour gave a g reat speech. My dad refused to say anything about his speech so I think I was most nervous about his, but it was very funny and obviously embarrassing.

Every little thing she does is magic: Image 8aWe had typically rustic centrepieces, which included a log slice cut from our friend's tree. Each table had a different pastel colour scheme, which matched the artwork and flowers.

Every little thing she does is magic: Image 8 In keeping with our Harry Potter theme, we named each table after a class from the books, including transfiguration and potions. Each table was represented by an illustration, which I designed.

The guests loved the photo booth, and we now have plenty of photos and messages from everyone.
