Jonny Poole is a performer and composer based in Colchester and London. He’s a keen producer and jazz performer with a serious passion for everything film composing. His versatile and open-minded approach to composing has led him to writing a wide variety of styles from large orchestral scores to gritty hip-hop and jazz soundtracks with influences from the early pioneers of film composing such as David Raksin and Bernard Herrman to their modern counterparts, such as Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, Thomas Newman, Michael Giacchino, Ennio Morricone and Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL).

Jonny is a first study alto saxophone player focusing on Jazz with a keen ear for contemporary styles. Jonny also performs on drums, bass and keys on a regular basis in a number of active bands ranging from folk to hip-hop. Graduate from Sheffield University 2017, he already has a substantial catalogue of gigs to his name and a lot of experience in the performing field. He has performed at an array of festivals and prestigious music venues, such as Headlining Glastonbury Festivals, BBC Introducing stage, Reading and Leeds Festivals, BBC 1Xtra stage, and Sheffield’s own Tramlines Festival, the Main Stage at Hop Farm and Brownstock festivals, GreatEscape Festival, Barbican Centre, The 02 Academy Sheffield and Islington and the Barfly and Jazz Café Camden to name a few. Jonny’s music has been featured on radio stations such as BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, and Jonny has performed on a number of BBC introducing Suffolk and Essex Live Lounge sessions. He is now focusing on pursuing a career in film composition and has already composed music for amateur film directors and a short documentary for Hyundai
