Discreetly positioned within the picturesque village of Navestock, Brentwood, Essex Old Brook Barn is a 17th-century barn found within 23 acres of quintessentially English countryside. Accessed via a charming timber bridge, groups can enjoy views across the meadow field, a secret garden for celebrations and a natural brook. A secluded courtyard is positioned to the front of the building and is furnished with a gazebo, rustic bar area and characterful timber furniture. Step inside the barn, and visitors find gorgeous original features, exposed beams, high ceilings and carved-wood detailing but with the benefit of modern lighting and a PA system. The Minstrel's Gallery overlooks the Main Hall and opens on to a wonderful south-facing balcony.
The Secret Garden is a glorious al fresco place for couples to say their vows with its manicured-hedge perimeter, impeccable lawns and attractive painted gazebo. Smaller outdoor ceremonies are suited to The Courtyard. Inside, The Barn and Minstrel's Gallery are both stunning locations for ceremonies. The Secret Garden and The Courtyard are the ideal spots to treat loved ones to freshly prepared canapés and a glass of Pimm's on warm days, while The Barn and Minstrel's Gallery are glorious indoor options. The Main Hall has idyllic views, and furnished with round tables and chiavari chairs, it's the perfect setting to enjoy a delicious wedding breakfast from its caterers (stockandbailey.co.uk and limeberrycatering.co.uk).
We love... With a limited number of dates available in its April-to-October season, the venue offers couples access to the barn and grounds the day before and after their nuptials, taking some of the stress out of set up. They can also book the quaint Honeymoon Cottage for true indulgence.
