Hannah Faulder checks out Thomas's Cafe at Burberry's flagship Regent Street store

Hannah Faulder checks out Thomas's Cafe at Burberry's flagship Regent Street store: Image 1 Is there a better place to be than in the city on a sunny Saturday afternoon? Heading down Regent Street with my sister we went inside somewhere we've walked past many times, but never entered: Burberry's global flagship store.

We were guided through to Thomas's Cafe by a member of staff. I think the best word to describe the space is serene. Sunlight poured through the sash windows and gorgeous white floral arrangements adorned the tables and bar. It won't surprise anyone to hear that the cafe in Burberry is the utmost in classic, understated style. You can practically feel the sophisticated vibes.

We were told all about the teas on offer and the wonderful staff made sure we were catered to with our awkward veggie diets. The food was delicious. A quintessential English afternoon tea with delicate sandwiches, endless Darjeeling tea and an array of decadent sweet treats ensued. Oh, and the warm scones! You cannot beat a warm scone!

We were also treated to a sparkling wine from Kent called Gusbourne. It was absolutely delicious, and can I say much easier to drink than its French cousin. The highlight has to be the cakes though. Pretty little fondant fancies, soft lemon meringues and indulgent chocolate and hazlenut slices - it really was the such a treat. We were made to feel totally at ease and ended up spending two hours there. What a way to while away an afternoon!

Afterwards, we of course checked out the adjoining Burberry store. It's fashion heaven. I've never seen such plush carpets and the most wonderful chilled-out vibe. The thing that stood out the most was how friendly the staff were. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome.
