Paul Bolton, a dedicated runner and passionate advocate for grassroots rugby, is set to take on the challenge of the 2025 London Marathon to raise funds for Wooden Spoon, the children's charity of rugby. Paul, who works as a Marketing Manager for Ford Motor Company, first laced up his running shoes in 2018 when he attended his local Parkrun. Despite not always enjoying running, he quickly became hooked on the supportive atmosphere, the opportunity for self-improvement, and the camaraderie of fellow runners. During the Covid lockdowns, running became an even more significant part of his life, helping to improve both his mental and physical health.

Since then, Paul has embraced the running community, taking on 10K and half marathon races and joining Fordy Runs, the UK's largest running club. His journey has now led him to the ultimate challenge – the London Marathon, where he will proudly run in support of Wooden Spoon.
Paul has been involved with grassroots rugby since 2012 and currently serves as the Youth Chairman at Billericay Rugby Club. Wooden Spoon is the club's charity partner, and its mission to support disadvantaged children through the power of rugby is close to Paul's heart. The connection runs even deeper, as several veteran players from the club regularly represent Wooden Spoon in charity matches.
"I am delighted to be running the London Marathon as part of the Wooden Spoon team," said Paul. "It's fantastic to see our club supporting the charity in so many ways, and I'm proud to be contributing through my marathon effort."
Paul has been actively fundraising for his marathon journey, recently organizing a successful raffle at Billericay Rugby Club. With generous donations from local businesses, the event raised over £1,500 towards his fundraising target.
As race day approaches next week, Paul remains focused on his training and fundraising efforts, eager to take on what is often described as the world's greatest race.
