easyJet now offers more routes to Lapland than any other airline, with 18 routes from seven countries and as the official home of Santa Claus, snow covered Rovaniemi offers the ultimate festive experience for kids of all ages.
From meeting Santa and his elves busy in the workshop in the world-famous Santa Claus Village, to enjoying a thrilling husky sled through snow forests and exciting snowmobile safaris, every moment is wrapped in magic.
In March easyJet opened its new three A320neo aircraft base at London Southend supporting around 1,200 jobs including 140 direct jobs for pilots and cabin crew and the network at its newest base in London Southend continues to grow from strength to strength.
The airline is now operating 23 routes from London Southend to leisure destinations across Europe and North Africa.
With a catchment area the same size as Switzerland and around eight million people living within an hour of the airport, the opening of a base at London Southend provides easyJet with further growth opportunities in the UK leisure travel and package holiday market.
The airline is operating its biggest ever summer and biggest ever UK flying programme this year, with seven additional Airbus A320 family aircraft joining its UK-based fleet. This means there will be more than 33 million seats operating to and from the UK this summer, half a million more than last year and 44 new routes including three new destinations will take off from the UK this summer.
Sophie Dekkers, easyJet's Chief Commercial Officer, said: "We're delighted to be launching yet another new winter route from London Southend, offering a direct connection to Rovaniemi in Finland. Also known as Lapland and the home of Santa Claus, we know this will be a popular choice for families looking to enjoy a magical Christmas getaway. By growing our network at London Southend from strength to strength, we continue to offer customers more choice, connectivity and great value across our unrivalled network, always aiming to make travel easy."
