Just last month easyJet announced a new summer route from London Southend to Jersey in the Channel Islands.
In March easyJet opened its new three A320neo aircraft base at London Southend supporting around 1,200 jobs including 140 direct jobs for pilots and cabin crew and the network at its newest base in London Southend continues to grow from strength to strength.
The airline is now operating 23 routes from London Southend to leisure destinations across Europe and North Africa.
With a catchment area the same size as Switzerland and around eight million people living within an hour of the airport, the opening of a base this year at London Southend provides easyJet with further growth opportunities in the UK leisure travel and package holiday market.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet UK Country Manager, said: "In our 30th year, we're still as committed as ever to making travel easy and affordable for our customers in the UK. "With this latest route to Munich in time for Oktoberfest now available to book for flights from London Southend Airport for next summer, we're continuing to provide our customers across the region with even more choice and connectivity at fantastic fares, and we look forward to welcoming them onboard."
Nigel Mayes, London Southend Airport Business Development Director: "Guten tag München!! This is an amazing addition to the ever-growing network of services provided by easyJet from London Southend – the airline's 23rd destination and second in Germany! Passengers can say auf wiedersehn to boring autumn weekends at home and instead head over to the Oktoberfest and sample Germany's world-famous hospitality. We fully expect our terminal to be full of travellers dressed in full lederhosen during September and October!!"
