Flights operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, making the route ideal for long weekends, city breaks, visiting friends and family and business travel.
Edinburgh is one of the UK's most popular city-break destinations, offering visitors a unique combination of history, culture and vibrant city life, from Edinburgh Castle and the historic Royal Mile to its museums, galleries and renowned food and drink scene.
The new route further strengthens easyJet's UK domestic network and its growing presence at London Southend, providing greater connectivity between Scotland, Essex and the wider South East.
Flights are available to book at easyJet.com and via the easyJet mobile app, while easyJet holidays also offers package holidays to Edinburgh.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet's UK Country Manager, said: "We're really pleased to be celebrating the launch of our new route between London Southend and Edinburgh, providing customers at both ends of the route with even more choice and great value fares. "Edinburgh is an incredibly popular destination for both leisure and business travellers and this new service offers a convenient connection between Scotland's capital and customers across Essex and the wider South East. "The new route is another exciting addition to our growing network at London Southend and we look forward to welcoming customers onboard." Sharmeen Divan, Interim CEO and Chief Financial Officer at London Southend Airport, said: "We're delighted to welcome another domestic route from London Southend, giving people across Essex and East London even more choice when it comes to travel. "Edinburgh is a fantastic city to explore, packed with history, culture, incredible food and plenty to see and do. Whether it's a weekend city break, a visit to friends and family or a business trip, we're pleased to make this brilliant destination even more accessible for our local communities, flying from their own local airport."
The launch comes as easyJet continues to expand at London Southend. The airline announced in September that it will add a fourth based Airbus A320neo aircraft at the airport from summer 2027, supporting around 400 direct and indirect jobs and providing additional capacity for further network growth.
easyJet employs 140 pilots and crew as well as engineers. Around eight million people live within an hour of the airport, offering further opportunities for easyJet's flights and holidays serving customers across Essex and the wider region.
easyJet was founded 30 years ago and since then has flown over 800 million customers to and from the UK. Today, easyJet is the largest UK airline and serves 22 UK airports, offering flights and package holidays across more than 650 routes to nearly 140 destinations across Europe and North Africa, employing around 12,000 people across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
