May/June 2021

Looks like we made it! At the time of writing, we’re heading towards the summer of love, and I am ecstatic: sunshine, laughter, friends, family and WEDDINGS are just what we need right now.

I hope all of you who have had to deal with the stress and upset of rearranging your wedding are soon able to have your dream day – goodness knows you deserve it! And I hope that every hug is a little tighter, every dance move is executed with more pizzazz and every moment is full of joy.

As always, we’re bringing you the absolute best of the Essex wedding industry this issue. Every florist (page 96), cake designer (page 61), boutique owner (page 67) and venue (page 21) over these pages has had to diversify and show extraordinary resilience during the pandemic, and they can finally get back to doing what they do best: creating the most epic weddings imaginable for you lovely lot!

Leez Priory

Leez Priory lies in 40 acres of the county’s glorious landscape. A sweeping driveway lights the way to the front of the breathtaking Tudor manor house. Manicured lawns give way to sparkling lakes and secluded woodland, while the picture-perfect inner courtyard is set against the backdrop of the historic Great Tower.

The building’s red-brick façade is steeped in character with castlelike battlements, leaded windows and a central tower. Inside, this cosy house blends luxury and comfort with its oak-panelled walls, exposed beams and roaring log fire. The rustic Coach House Barn offers a contrasting style for celebrations.

There are a number of stunning settings for ceremonies both indoors and outdoors. Post-vow celebrations can be held in the Coach House, the Great Hall or receptions can be held throughout the whole house for up to 250 people. The venue’s all-inclusive packages are designed to take the stress out of wedding planning and offer fantastic value for money.

Simply Stunning Flowers recommends beautiful summer florals

Simply Stunning Flowers recommends beautiful summer florals

We ask Essex wedding florist Victoria Makepeace of Simply Stunning Flowers what her favourite colourful flowers are for a summer wedding. "Summer is the best time to embrace bright and beautiful flowers. You could consider a tropical design filled with anthurium, ginger flowers, orchids and protea all finished with palm leaves and monstera. This would create a vibrant palette of hot pink, coral, peach and white. For the more rustic couples, it has to be sunflowers – the bigger, the brighter, the better!"

Retreat to the city at The Marylebone, London

County Wedding Magazines' editor Hannah Faulder enjoys a much-needed city escape!

"As the country prepared for Lockdown Part II, my husband and I managed to sneak in a last-minute escape to the city to enjoy a much-needed retreat at The Marylebone. Nestled in the hotel's super-trendy namesake neighbourhood, between the Georgian Welbeck Street and the part-pedestrianised Marylebone Lane, you're just a short walk from London's most famous Monopoly locations, from Bond Street to Mayfair.
