May/June 2019

I’m so excited to be taking over as editor here at An Essex Wedding magazine. I got married in August 2016 in this wonderful county – I can’t believe how time flies – and now I get to continue my wedding love affair with you all.
Our day was fantastic; the glorious sunshine was matched by our very bright, tropical colour scheme. Although we started planning a very informal, chilled-out day, it soon got out of hand and I wish we’d had some expert advice like we have for you in our Hot Topic feature on page 117.

Although we got married less than three years ago it doesn’t stop me from looking through our Real Weddings, starting on page 41, and asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Maybe we’ll have to plan a vow renewal to incorporate all these new ideas – better get saving!

For me, the best weddings are a true reflection of the the couple. Whether you’re an outdoorsy pair ready to pull on your wellies in the Essex countryside or if getting hitched in one of the region’s extravagant stately homes is more your style, then you’ll find endless inspiration on these pages.

I can’t wait to share your journey - don't hesitate to get in touch with all your wedding-related news!

Little Easton Manor

Set in 66 acres of stunning grounds in the heart of the Essex countryside, wrought-iron gates welcome visitors to the estate up the tree-lined drive. The walled gardens of the manor feature pretty paths, ornate topiary and relaxing water features. Extensive lawns to the side of the building sweep down to the Great Lake with its resident swans and abundant wildlife.

The Barn Theatre is one of the finest examples of tithe barns in the country with its black-and-white exterior providing a traditional big-day backdrop. Inside, both on-site barns offer a wealth of exposed woodwork and quirky characteristics, while five-metre high ceilings provide a sense of grandeur.

The Ceremony Barn, which adjoins the Barn Theatre, is the smaller option seating up to 70 friends and family for nuptials. Larger groups should opt for the Barn Theatre with its ability to host up to 120 people for ceremonies.

Receptions are held in the Barn Theatre, with its bar and stage it offers a seamless space for parties. Couples will enjoy having exclusive use of the venue and grounds for their day.

Newlyweds-to-be are appointed their own wedding manager who will help as much or as little as needed. Couples can also hire the honeymoon suite and two refurbished cottages for up to seven of their nearest and dearest.
