Essex country house hotel, spa and estate, Down Hall, has partnered with leading British gin, Berkshire Botanical, to transform the al fresco terrace into an enchanting autumnal escape with a brand new "G & Tea" experience.
Proudly positioned outside the pillar fronted hotel with views across the manicured gardens, the terrace draws inspiration from the 110-acres of grounds that surround the hotel with autumnal blooms – think burnt oranges, yellows and reds – adorning the space, alongside a giant swing chair, floral feature wall and hand-painted mural. Those who may feel a chill in the air need not worry, as each table will be kitted out with heaters, blankets and cushions to keep the cold away on those balmier days.
A twist on the quintessential British tradition of afternoon tea, the G & Tea experience features a selection of savoury and sweet bites, created by Executive Chef Robert Pearce, alongside Berkshire Botanical cocktails. Feast on delicious finger sandwiches of Scottish smoked salmon and honey roast ham, before indulging in freshly baked scones with cream and fruit preserves, and sweet treats of raspberry and lime éclair; strawberry custard tart; and chocolate delice.
Priced at £42.50 on weekdays, and £47.50 on weekends, the tea – which can be served on the terrace on in the hotel's lounge - comes complete with your choice of Gin Spritz served from a traditional teapot and porcelain teacup.
Working alongside premium mixer specialists Fever Tree, Down Hall has also created a new Spritz Menu to be served on the terrace or new Fox Bar, which features a selection signature and exclusive Berkshire Botanical serves, ready to be enjoyed in quirky glassware of mini copper pots and teacup sets. Garnished with botanicals fresh from the hotel's kitchen garden, highlights on the menu include the Down Hall Garden G&T with Berkshire Botanical Honey & Orange Blossom, Elderflower Tonic, orange and mint garnish; and the Dandelion & Burdock Fizz with Berkshire Botanical Dandelion & Burdock, Sicilian Lemonade, strawberry and mint garnish.
