We caught up with the owner of Celebration Essex, the county's newest wedding celebrant service...

- What's your background and what made you launch your business?
I have worked in wedding business for the last seven years as a registrar. Between the rest of te team and I we have over twenty years experience and have been involved in a wide styles of wedding events and celebrations. I am also a trained contemporary artist and I find that it helps me when advising on the little details of a wedding. The things that really make for a unique event, and the things that make it reflect a couples personalities. I try to bring that experience into every wedding. Our service is very personal and very relaxed. It's like having your own personal assistant. We want to go further than just the celebrant part of the wedding but that's the central focus.

- What makes your business unique?
It's such a hard question to answer. I think one of the things that makes us special is that we always make sure the couple (or person celebrating) is always the central focus of the event. I have seen celebrants who's personalities take over the event completely. We never do that. We are there to make sure the limelight falls exactly where it should. We help with writing words to make sure they reflect the profundity of the occasion but also make sure that they sound real, genuine and authentic to the people speaking them. We can also help with planning, design, entertainment and a number of other areas where we have experience and well established, trusted, partners.

- What's your top tip for couples planning their big day?
Relax, step back and try to see the big picture. Make sure you enjoy your day but also enjoy the journey. After all you'll only do this once!
